  • error establishing a database connection

So I got this error while a peak of users, it uses to happen when I publish certain videos that people like to watch. I didn´t check on that moment of panic how many nginx connections I had, but average I user to have around 800, perhaps on that moment it could be 1500.

I have a DO dedicated droplet 16 CPU 32 GB RAM. I didn´t change any configuration from the wordops standard installation that I did 4 months ago.

Any suggestions?

A client of mine usually has 20k online users on a VPS with 2GB RAM, 1vCPU.

I wonder if a) you are using page caches; and b) if you have plugins that require database access despite of page cache (like any kind of stats or page views counter).
