But, I do not know what 25 and 128 represent here, where do they come from? would you please clarify?

See an example if you multiply

128MB x 25 = 3200MB which would be what your wordpress would use.

This Multiplication is just an example.

Where are these numbers from?
Why should we use these two numbers to calculate the size of memory for WP memory ?

For instance, I would like to enlarge the memory on server to be 8G, how should I calculate the memory for both of WP_Memory_limit and WP_MAX_memory_limit?

Hello, my answer was just an example of how to calculate the memory that your wordpress can use.

25 is a number of times, it can be any other number.

128 would be megabytes.

One major thing that I would recommend is running wo stack upgrade --mysql after rescaling your server. When you install MySQL for the first time, WordOps tunes my.cnf (MySQL Configuration) based on RAM installed on your server. If you upgrade the RAM on your server then you should also run the provided command to upgrade the MySQL Configuration.

@alex You shouldn't worry much about the WP Memory Limit. I set it to 256MB for the heavy Woocommerce websites and never needed to increase it any further despite the server having a big portion of free RAM available.

If a PHP process on your website needs more than 256MB of Memory then you should seriously focus more on debugging that issue rather than increasing the PHP Limit. For 99.9% of websites, you won't need more than a 256MB memory limit 🙂

You don't need to backup your MySQL databases before running wo stack upgrade --mysql, it will not upgrade MariaDB major release.
