Friends, how can I install a phpBB forum using wordops?

Just create a php+MySQL site as normal. Then follow the phpBB install instructions. You may need some extra config for using Nginx, but if it's not already in their docs then the phpBB forums are bound to have examples.

marty That's not really all that helpful. The phpBB installation instructions assume a dedicated server, and the nginx instructions and sample configuration file is not a straight drop-in for a wordops managed system.

I was able to figure out and fix the various obvious 'location / not allowed' errors (as it was a duplicate of the common conf files, but I am still let with a 502 Bad gateway error - which I suspect is due to the rewrite configuration of the sample config file provided.

I will paste/post this sample config as a separate message following this comment, and maybe someone can help point out how it would need to be altered to work on a wordops managed system.

It's not the whole answer but it is the process for any app that WordOps doesn't support. WordOps is intended for WordPress primarily, so you do take things into your own hands if you want to install other apps. As I said it will need some extra config, :-)

A 502 error suggests the fastcgi_pass line is wrong - try fastcgi_pass php83 (I'm assuming you're also commenting out common/php83.conf?). Maybe post your actual config so far? Also run an nginx -t to see if there's any errors shown there.

Thanks for these additional details. Let me start from scratch with a fresh config file. What I'll do is remove the 'include' pointers, and take the content of those files and put it directly in the config file ... then eliminate the duplicate lines.

I think your suggestion about common/php83.conf can point me in the right direction. Thanks, will report back.
