Which directory should be synced for backup?

Hello,

I understand this question is not related to wordops, but it would be great appreciated if I can have your professional suggestions and comments:

I have a site running on digitalocean, and I just want to keep the files and databases to be synced between the running server and a local server in our office, so which directories should be synced to keep the data continuous and consistent, and the site will work properly if it is updated by syncing the data and files from the local server?

Or, Is it possible?

What kind of site is it? How often does anything change? Why do you want to sync files rather than just backup?
If it's just a brochure type site that rarely changes then a daily backup is more than enough. But if it's a busy ecommerce site then you may need real-time backups. If you're trying to create some kind of staging server where you can push changes both ways then you're going to be disappointed. :-)
Buy maybe explain what you're ultimately trying to achieve for other suggestions.

It is a woocommerce site, it is running on digitalocean in California, but I am in China.

It is quite not convenient for me update the products by access it across countries, not only because of the slow access speed, but also interrupts acting of the customers on site.

So, I am looking for a approach supporting work effectively on locally server in a intranet, then update the local work to the remote server .

Any suggestions?

Yeah, you're searching for the Holy Grail. :-)
You could try something like WP Migrate DB Pro, where you can selectively push database tables from staging to production (e.g. products but not orders).
