Hey WordOps community,
After three years of running CloudPanel, I wanted to share a bit about my experience and raise a question that’s been on my mind.
Why I stuck with CloudPanel:
CloudPanel has been rock-solid for me. The GUI made life easy – updating vhosts, managing databases, adding SSH users, tweaking Varnish, checking access logs, and more, all just a few clicks away. The panel’s stability and clarity let me focus on building and maintaining sites instead of wrestling with configs. Plus, I really appreciated how each site could have its own SSH user, adding another layer of separation and security.
Why I switched to WordOps:
Recently, I needed more advanced features and optimizations for WordPress that only WordOps seems to offer. The CLI-first approach is powerful and flexible, and I’m already seeing the benefits in terms of performance and automation. WordOps is clearly built for people who want to squeeze every bit of efficiency out of their server and WordPress stack.
But here’s what I miss:
- Having a GUI to quickly manage and visualize server/site settings
- The ability to assign different SSH users per site (instead of everything running under
www-data)
- One-click access to logs, configs, and service restarts
- The approachable learning curve for less CLI-savvy team members
I know WordOps is primarily CLI-driven and that’s a big part of its appeal for many, but I’m curious: Is there any plan or ongoing discussion about developing a GUI panel for WordOps? Even a lightweight dashboard for basic management (vhosts, databases, users, logs) would be a huge win for those of us who like the best of both worlds.
Would love to hear from the maintainers and the community – is this on the roadmap? Are there any unofficial projects or forks trying to bring a GUI to WordOps? Or tips for integrating with third-party panels without breaking the magic?
Thanks for all the hard work on WordOps – it’s an amazing project. Just hoping for that extra bit of usability to make it perfect for every type of user!
Looking forward to your feedback and thoughts.
