I'm seeing GitHub commits as recent as 2 weeks ago. I actually came here to (hopefully) read up on the hot news, so I was quite surprised to see nothing recently posted.

WordOps is exceptional. I've been using it since launch and I'm truly grateful for everything it has given me over the years.

I fully understand how much effort it takes to maintain a project like this, it's an enormous amount of work, and often an invisible one.

My concern these days is more practical: with issues like CVE-2026-42945 and a long stretch without official updates, I've grown wary of keeping WordOps in production for the long run.

Because of that, I've been exploring the idea of building my own solution on top of WordOps — keeping its philosophy, but adding a few things I find myself missing day to day: S3 backups, ready-to-go installers (Mautic, n8n, and others), more robust Fail2ban rules, Cloudflare integration, all wrapped in a cleaner panel.

Before I commit to it, I'd love to hear from you: does this make sense? Is anyone else feeling the same need? Any thoughts are welcome.

That makes sense, Gabriel. In fact, I've already done that and am making the final adjustments to my own solution.

why not contribute to WordOps and collaborate by adding more? I personally don't have the skills... but if you do, I'd have to assume that helping the project grow would be something everyone would appreciate!

Yeah, as @splaquet says, that’s kind of the point of open source - contributing to the project makes it better for everyone. WordOps is open source under the MIT licence, so people can contribute, improve it, or build on it.

That said, I don’t know what’s going on with the lack of updates and builds either. There’s clearly been some repo progress, but no actual releases for a long time. And stuff needs releasing.

The other open-source option, when a project stalls, is forking it - taking the existing project and creating a maintained continuation that people can all actively contribute to. WordOps itself started as a fork of EasyEngine v3. That would seem a much better future for the project than rolling your own solutions?

I apologize if that came out wrong... I shouldn't have assumed!

If you look at the support channel on GitHub repo page, you'll see that he's currently working on a new release for php8.5 compatibility. Sounds like the new release might be coming out any day/week.

IMO, if anyone's looking to contribute, GitHub is currently the place to have those conversations.

Endda I did the same - switched to CloudPanel, which gets the job done, and has a decent graphical UI to boot. It's unfortunate that this project was abandoned, and especially in the manner how it was done. :-(
