Multisite and SSL

How will WordOps handle Multisite setup with SSL? For example:

a website with example.com/sub-site1 (sub-directory), do we issue Wildcard SSL,, or do we let Auto SSL handle it?
and what about a website with a mapped domain (example2.com)?

In the first example, it's still a single domain, of example.com, so the sub-folders are irrelevant to the SSL cert.

I'm not sure in this second example. Mapping domains on top of an existing created site is something I've been looking at. Would be great to know if anyone has solved this.
