Hello I have followed these steps:
https://docs.wordops.net/how-to/add-ftp-users/
wo stack install --proftpd
Confirmed relevant steps here: https://virtubox.github.io/ubuntu-nginx-web-server/#install-proftpd
Added FTP users for an earlier created site (yourdomain.tld)
yourdomain.tld is an example, I have updated this name with my site name.
create user without shell access in group www-data
adduser --home /var/www/yourdomain.tld/ --shell /bin/false --ingroup www-data youruser
Got these warnings:
Warning: The home dir /var/www/yourdomain.tld/ you specified already exists.
The home directory /var/www/yourdomain.tld/' already exists. Not copying from
/etc/skel'.
Warning: The home directory `/var/www/yourdomain.tld/' does not belong to the user you are currently creating.
allow group read/write on website folder
chmod -R g+rw /var/www/yourdomain.tld
Eventually I am not able/ do not understand how to work with FTP.
I have also used a different non-existing username without luck.
Now I have 2 questions:
- How can I set up this FTP and connect i.e. via Filezilla Client or any other application? What do I need to work with the files in the specified folder?
- How can I remove this installation, without leaving useless thinks behinde. In other words roll back: adduser + wo stack install --proftpd?
userdel -r yourdomain.tld
wo stack remove --proftpd or wo stack purge --
I also like to say that I am a fan of WordOps, I think it is great.
Thanks in advance for your help and I apologize for the lack of knowledge.
Dennis
