I've tried finding an answer to this, as I figure it must be a common issue, but I didn't find an solution. If it's already posted somewhere, please feel free to point me in the right direction.
I do a lot of my WordPress development (file changes/edits) over SFTP.
I am currently not able to do that using the SFTP access I have on hand after installing WordOps. My user doesn't have permission to write to files in the /var/www/mydomain.tld/htdocs
folder.
Is there a recommended way to go about editing and saving files into the Wordpress root over SFTP?
I thought perhaps I could simply add my user to the www-data
group, but that hasn't resolved the issue.
Also...
I note that I can't use sudo su www-data
command to switch to substitute user www-data
. I get the error, This account is currently not available.
So this also has me stumped when it comes to editing files in the site via command line. Which is also something I commonly do.
