Hello all. I wanted to take a moment and say “Thank You” to the devs and contributors. I've had a great experience thus far with WordOps. I have a background in IT and know my way around Linux servers but admittedly am too focused on other things to want to be a full time admin. I also recognize that there are DevOps people who know way more than I do about the best approach to running a web server environment. Given that, I have used various control panels and server tools to manage sites for many years and am usually not overly impressed. I take some time to research options and then give up and settle on something until it breaks or annoys me. Rinse and repeat.
I have most recently been using RunCloud and, while being very convenient, has shown to have some holes in important areas like security and performance. I've spent a month or so trying just about every option you can image, from open source to paid commercial platforms and WordOps has proven to be the best solution for a number of reasons. First, it just makes sense to me. The command options and file structure are logical and keep with standards much more than most other I try that do things their own way. For example, htdocs in /var/www and owned by www-data. Second, I recognize the value of containers and do use them in some cases but have found that for WordPress, dedicated installations are a better option. So something like EasyEngine v4 is good in theory but was difficult to manage in practice. Lastly, the documentation is excellent and has helped me transition easily. This is particularly true of the How To and Guides sections so kudos to whoever wrote them.
I really appreciate the work that's gone into this and am thrilled to have access to such an excellent solution. Great job all. I will try to pitch in with documentation and answering forum questions. Let me know if there's anything else that you need help with. Thanks again!
