Hi all, a bit of a weird problem.
So I have a site on WO but I encountered the following:
Whenever someone accessed the naked IP over HTTP it shows the default Nginx page.
However, whenever someone does the same over HTTPS it shows a warning about a name mismatch but opens the site hosted, which I want to avoid.
Is there any way to redirect 443/SSL traffic to the default Nginx page?
This is expected. SSL certs do not get issued for IP addresses, only domains/hostnames.
There is no way to redirect the traffic from the IP address HTTPS because you cannot get a valid cert for it.
Under what circumstance are you wanting users to visit https://IP anyway?
if ip is bothering you , put your website behind cloudflare proxy your ip wont be visible in lookup unless someone manually type in
