So, apparently current WordOps doesn't work with Ubuntu 22.04. I'm reinstalling an Ubuntu 20.04 minimal server, to see if that addresses the issue that I have been encountering.

NOPE! Ubuntu server 20.04, latest words installation. Same errors.
Seriously, what is going on here? Is anyone still on here?

Could be an issue with WordOps v3.17.0 (was released yesterday)
But what are the server requirements for Invision? (I checked their site but couldn't find anything conclusive)
Is there anything useful in wordops.log? (i.e. "Check the log for details: tail /var/log/wo/wordops.log")

OK, so that just confirms the error you originally mentioned... :-)

What are the server requirements for Invision?
Is there anything useful in wordops.log?

The system is running:

MySQL version 10.11.4-MariaDB-1:10.11.4+maria_ubu2004-log.

I guess those versions are OK (does 'recommended' mean minimum version, so that or anything above? not really clear).
Bus as I keep saying - check wordops.log and see what errors are showing in there from when you try to switch php version.

So, if I want an html/php website, using php 8.0 with mysql -- how would I set it up using wordops?

I usually do:

wo site create sitename.tld --php80 --mysql --le

Am I missing anything there?

That sounds fine (assuming the stack is installed and php8.0).

I think I have discovered something to maybe point us in the right direction:

"The installer uses PHP sessions to store data,
however PHP sessions are currently not working

So this is coming from the Invision installer?
I doubt there's a problem with sessions - but this could be a symptom of some other problem (which may reveal itself in wordops.log).
But if you want to check sessions... 1) are cookies enabled in your web browser 2) create a phpinfo() page in the same folder as the installer, load that page in your browser and check the main Sessions section.

This is independent of Invision. I think the issue on the server is a problem with WordOps and dealing with a non-Wordpress site configuration (installing wordpress sites, and everything works just fine)
